Other’s Thoughts

I have been honoured to work with some amazing staff, students, and parents in my career. I believe in open, honest communication and welcome feedback from others. The feedback, encouragement, example, and insight of others continue to have an impact on my development as a leader. This page is dedicated to some of the encouraging words and feedback that I received from others about my work and leadership. Thank-you to everyone who I have had the privilege to collaborate with. Your actions and words continue to be a source of inspiration to me.

Staff Thoughts:

“And a big thank you back to both of you. This has been one of my most enjoyable years-admin wise- in my career. I am sure there are many others that would say the same thing.”
(Early Years Teacher)

“I meant to find you both before Spring Break started, but it was a pretty busy week!  I just wanted to say “thank you”, you are both doing an unbelievable job and I truly appreciate everything that you do, not only for our school, but for me as well!   Have a great break!”
(Specialist Teacher)

“Travis, I just wanted to let you know a little of what you missed at the PD Meeting today.  Well, we did a round robin and I’m sure you would have been so pleased as to what staff were saying.  I for one have noticed such a change in the chi in our school.  The energy and positive environment has been absolutely amazing!  Whether it’s walking in the office or in the halls I feel the unity you and Karen have created for all of us. Thank you so much for what you and Karen have brought to our school! “
(Educational Assistant)

“Karen and Travis, I didn’t verbalize my thoughts at today’s meeting, but I very much appreciate both of you! You truly are leaders… You’ve created an atmosphere where every staff member feels valued and you welcome input/feedback.  You’re decisive, positive, organized and communication is excellent! The messages our students are hearing is that you care about them and that you will celebrate their every success.  I could go on… Thank you”
(Early Years Teacher)

Student Thoughts:

“Hello Mr. McNaughton,
Well, I’d like to first say thank you for a great start to my last year here at Muir Lake.  With you coming in as a new principal this year it must be tough but I love the atmosphere inside the school. Your support towards me is always positive and it just makes this ‘senior’ year at Muir Lake a lot easier/ enjoyable.  Also I’d like thank you for all the opportunities you have given me as an individual to help out at the school.  Thanks for the time I had with you in 2011 and I hope for more good times in 2012.”
(Grade 9 Student)

Parent Thoughts:

“Just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you for your presentation last night. I always knew technology was going to be a huge part of my daughters life and I feel relieved knowing the school is taking an active approach in preparing her for that. I have already filled out my letter of intent to purchase and I can’t wait to see what the next school year brings! Thank you again for bringing the kids out of the chalkboard ages and in to the future.”
